the earth might be a little bit too complex as your gonna add the buildings and trees on. i more canton-ish one would work better since there are a larger area of land that are connected with the edge of the earth, which placement can be added on.
I agree that there might be a little too much detail, but I wanted there rather to be more than less - and I like it that we can recognize continents instead of it becoming blobs. Maybe we can try first and then eliminate as we see things come together. It is easy to simplify the shapes if we chose to do that.
