What is missing?

It's 30" X 40"
Lines are 1cm thick at the bottom and 0.5cm think at the top.

The bottom looks fine. It is the top that I feel it's too busy. I am not too sure how to simplify it more visible.

    Ummmm...amazing! I never would have thought this could look so good Peter, good job. I love it, and I feel like it plays off the logo, the cogs, the colours, the caterpillars, this is great.

    Maybe play with the opacity of the top? Can you send me the AI file so that I can incorporate the shapes into the 2D?
